Regulars at Zero Gravity Craft Brewery have watched its food menu expand from popcorn to hot dogs to bar snacks such as cheese curds and eggplant bao.
Now the brewery that opened four years ago at 716 Pine Street in Burlington is offering more substantial fare, including a cheeseburger served with fries and a salad; fried chicken with the same choice of sides; and a grain bowl of quinoa, sweet potato, sorghum and veggies.
"It was time," said Frank Pace, chef-owner of the Great Northern, the adjacent restaurant that partners with Zero Gravity. "We felt like we needed to expand and offer people some food and get them excited about eating at Zero Gravity. It's such a cool spot — and people should be eating."
The food is prepared in the Great Northern kitchen and delivered to Zero Gravity patrons at the bar or their table. This, too, is new: In the past, customers received a buzzer that let them know when their food was ready, and then they picked it up at a counter.
The new menu includes rotating weekly specials such as roasted broccoli with pickled cranberries, spicy nuts and Dijon aioli; and wild-rice-and-oxtail arancini. The latter dish is a creation of Abdullahi Ibrahim, chef de cuisine at the Great Northern.
Pace said he expects to add more offerings to the taproom menu, including vegetable dishes and cold items.
"We're one whole family," he said of the relationship between Zero Gravity and the Great Northern.
