Did you not read the article? The company isn't crying poverty... In fact, they're offering $1000 bounties to all the drivers (~$70,000) to settle the contract!
When will the drivers settle? When dignity and respect are addressed and basic human needs are met (ie: drivers needing to use the bathroom during their workday and being threatened with discipline if their respective runs are late! This, alone, is incomprehensible and even more reprehensible to management and all those behind them!)
CCTA's own general manager 'stumbled' when asked if he were a driver, would he accept the contract as offered!
