Side Dishes: Farah's closes, plans move to Chittenden County

Published January 12, 2011 at 7:45 a.m.

Readers craving Persian specialties from Farah’s Middle Eastern Food will have to wait. Just a week after I named her koofteh among my favorite new restaurant dishes of 2010, Farah Oberlender closed her Johnson takeout joint.

Not to worry. Oberlender says the change was planned and allows her to pursue a new goal — opening a restaurant in the Burlington area. She’s seeking a home in Chittenden County that she can convert into a combination business and living space to give her more time to take care of her 4-year-old son — and 1-year-old restaurant.
