Claudette Racine, age 69, a lifelong resident of St. Albans and Franklin, passed away on October 23 after her second long battle with cancer, with her family by her side.
She was born in Actonvale, Quebec Canada on, June 29, 1946, to the late Jean and Olivette (Gilbert) Beauregard and graduated in 1963 from Richford High School.
Claudette married Jim Racine on June 19, 1965. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with many family and friends. They moved to Franklin in 1971 and then to St. Albans in 2003. She and her husband Jim owned and operated The Franklin General Store from 1984 until 2002. While living in Tennessee she was recently employed by Hobby Lobby. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking for Marthas Kitchen, playing Bingo with great friend Evelyn Todd and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.
Besides her husband James, Claudette leaves three children, Michael Racine and wife Lisa of Orleans, VT, Mark Racine and wife Alyson of Franklin and Monique Duhamel and husband John of Silver Point Tennessee; three sisters, Pierrette Parent and husband Maurice of Enosburgh Falls, Lucy Parent and husband Roger of Georgia and JoAnn Brodeur and husband Bob of St. Albans; three brothers, Hilaire Beauregard and his wife Giselle of Berkshire, Norman Beauregard and his partner Jo-Anne Blouin of Sheldon and John Beauregard and his wife Manon of Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, Quebec; step-mother, Lisette Beauregard; sister-in-law, Monica Racine of Essex Jct.; two brothers-in-law, Marcel Racine and wife Louise of Williston and Pat Racine of Montgomery; seven grandchildren, Rohan, Ezra and Lincoln Racine, Josh and Alexis Smith and Quinn and Nora Racine and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Claudette was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Paul Racine and Dennis Racine and grandson Eben Racine.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 11 a.m. from Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church, 246 Lake St., S. Albans City. Father Maurice J. Roy will be the celebrant and homilist assisted by The Reverend Mr. Duane Langlois. The will be no public calling hours. The Rite of Committal and Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
