Bernard E. Germain passed away on February 18, 2015 in his home. Bernard was born in Burlington, Vermont on October 9, 1938, the son of Edgar and Laura (Bouffard) Germain. He spent his childhood in Winooski and attended St. Francis Xavier School. He was a 1957 graduate of Cathedral High School in Burlington and graduated from the University of Vermont in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army at Governor's Island, New York for two years.

Bernard was a Vermont State employee, working in the Social Services Department. He later was employed at IBM in Essex Junction, from where he retired. Following his retirement, he worked part time for the Colchester School District for many years.

Bernard is survived by cousins and a large number of personal friends who considered him part of their family. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew him.

Per Bernard's request, there will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 27, 2015 at the Lavigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Winooski. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in his name to the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be shared with the family at lavignefuneralhome.com.
