Cedric Allen Columb, age 88 years, died early Monday morning, May 4, 2015, at his residence on Maquam Shore.
Born in Sheldon on, March 16, 1927, he was the son of the late Alfred and Edna (Roddy) Columb. He attended schools in Franklin and on May 1, 1949, was married to the former Marjorie Gillette who survives him.
A longtime resident of Franklin, Cedric owned and operated his own dairy farm beginning in 1958. He was a member of Saint Marys Mission in Franklin and more recently a parishioner of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary / Saint Louis Parish. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, carpenter work and playing checkers, cards and horseshoes and was a member of the Vermont Association of Horseshoe Pitchers.
In addition to his wife Marjorie of 66 years, Cedric leaves three sons and their wives, C. Daniel and Annette Columb of Franklin, Timothy R. and Helen Columb of Enosburgh Falls and Peter W. and Lori Columb of Sheldon; three daughters, and their husbands, Mary Lou and Phil Ste. Marie of Swanton, Faith and Patrick Murphy of St. Albans and Deborah and Joseph Robertson of Highgate; one brother, Alfred Columb of Laconia, NH; two sisters, Imogene Rainville and husband Andrew of Franklin and Mary Korzun of Manchester, NH; grandchildren, Alyce, Rachel and Paul; Heidi and Jaime; Chris and Chad; Derek and Dana; Corey and Heather; Ryan, Caleb and Nicole; great grandchildren, Carly; Conner, Cameron and Madison; Taylor and Dalton; Addison; Camryn; Lily and Ann; Alexis and Tim as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Cedric was predeceased by two granddaughters, Melissa Missy Columb and Brandy Robertson; sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Gary Stanley and a brother-in-law, John Korzun.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 8, 2015, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada Street, Swanton. Father Roger L. Charbonneau will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Columb family lot in Saint John The Baptist Cemetery, Enosburgh Falls.
Friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
