Stuck in Vermont: Glynnis Fawkes Brings Charlotte Brontë to Life in a Graphic Novel

Episode 591

Published September 19, 2019 at 6:00 a.m.

Charlotte Brontë and her siblings left a permanent mark on literature and are perfect fodder for a graphic novel. Burlington cartoonist Glynnis Fawkes spent a year and a half distilling Charlotte’s early life into comics for Charlotte Brontë Before Jane Eyre. We spent an afternoon at Glynnis’ home studio to discuss her work, including her recently released diary and memoir collection, Persephone’s Garden.

Glynnis is having a book launch September 26 at Phoenix Books in Burlington.

Shooting date: 9/12/19

Music: Aaron Kenny, "Yonder Hill and Dale"

Kevin MacLeod, "East of Tunesia"

Geographer, "Dreams Electric"
