Stuck in Vermont: Gold Shaw Farm Grows YouTube Views in Peacham

Episode 613

Published May 28, 2020 at 6:00 a.m. | Updated October 18, 2022 at 4:17 p.m.

Morgan Gold and his wife, Allison Ebrahimi Gold, took a leap of faith in 2016 when they purchased a 150-acre farm in Peacham and swapped their big-city lives in Washington, D.C., for greener pastures. Gold Shaw Farm evolved into a farm-in-progress where they raise geese and ducks for eggs and meat.

Farming is not a lucrative endeavor these days, but Morgan found a way to make it work. Over the past three years, Morgan has become a YouTube celebrity with a channel that documents his animal adventures with his guard dog Toby, barn cats Pablo and Lil, and hissy gander Justin Finch-Fletchley. His videos have more than 11 million views and almost 100,000 subscribers. Morgan publishes videos twice a week and balances a full-time job with farming and video production. His videos get hundreds of comments from fans all over the world, and they provide a wholesome escape from the coronavirus pandemic to many would-be farmers stuck at home. Morgan uses revenue from the YouTube Partner Program to support his farm experiments, and viewers are just glad to be along for the ride.

Eva spent an afternoon at Gold Shaw Farm and got to meet the gang, including some 4-day-old goslings. #cuteoverload
