Elizabeth Masson Bianca died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014. Born October 14, 1937 in St. Albans Vt, the daughter of the late Cynthia Hemenway Masson, and Andre A. Masson. Elizabeth was raised in Sheldon Vt. She was valedictorian of her class at St. Mary’s high school in St. Albans. She attended Trinity College in Burlington on an academic scholarship, where she received her bachelor’s degree in education.

While at Trinity, she met a UVM student, James Bianca on a blind date. They later married and settled in Saratoga Springs to raise their family. While her husband traveled extensively for his consulting work, Elizabeth was actively involved in the community, her church, and her children’s education and activities. She was an avid reader. She also enjoyed crosswords, quilting and cooking, and was famous for her pies.

Elizabeth fulfilled her wish to move back home to Vermont and spent the last 27 years living in St. Albans. Her life focus was always on her family and her family considered her to be its heartbeat. As testament to strong family ties, four out of her five children followed her to her beloved

Vermont and reside there today.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James Bianca, her daughter Cynthia Whiteside and son-in-law Richard, her son James Jr. and fiancé Terry Hammel, her daughter Roberta O’Neil and son-in-law Col. James O'Neil, son Daniel and daughter-in-law Beth, and son Andrew and daughter-in-law Wendy. Her sisters Mary Bronson, (William dec.), Cynthia Ann Simpson and her husband Michael, and her brother Andrew Masson Jr. and his wife Agnes, and her 10 grandchildren.

We will always cherish our memories of her and her devotion to family. She will be remembered as a very gracious woman who always had a way of making everyone feel welcome.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday August 14, 2014, at 10 a.m. from Holy Angels Roman Catholic , 246 Lake Street , St. Albans City. Father Maurice J. Roy will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Bianca family lot in St. Anthony Cemetery, Sheldon Springs.

Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Gifts in Elizabeth’s memory may be made to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St Albans, VT 05478.
